The St. Louis Blues are a National Hockey League Team (NHL) that plays their home games at Enterprise Center In St. Louis. MO. They play in the Central division of the Western Conference. Other NHL teams in the same division include the Chicago Blackhawks, Minnesota Wild, Colorado Avalanche, Dallas Stars, Winnipeg Jets, and the Nashville Predators.
The Blues joined the National Hockey League (NHL) in 1967. They were part of a six-team expansion for the NHL that year. The other five teams were the Los Angeles Kings, Philadelphia Flyers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Dallas Stars, and Oakland Seals. The Blues were extremely successful right from the beginning as they managed to make the Stanley Cup Finals each of the first 3 years of existence. Although they would lose the series in all three of those Finals appearances, it was a very impressive feat and helped the NHL have a better outlook on expansion. One side note about losing those all three Stanley Cup series is the fact that they did not win one game in any of the three years. The 1967-68 team started the 3-year streak losing to the Montreal Canadians 4-0. They would again face the Canadians again in 1969, again losing 4 games to nothing, Facing the Boston Bruins at the end of the 1969-70 season didn't fare any better as the Blues lost 4-0 to the Bruins in the 1970 Stanley Cup Final.
As a St. Louis Blues Hockey fan, you have to be happy with the fact that the team has made the playoffs in 82% of the seasons that they have played in since their existence. In fact, that is such a great percentage that it is easier to list the much shorter list of years that they did not make the playoffs:
In all, as of 2020, the Blues have played 53 NHL Hockey seasons and have made a playoff appearance in 44 of them. Of that 44 playoff appearances, they went on to play in the Stanley Cup Finals 4 times and did not win their first Stanley Cup final until the 2018-19 season when they beat the Boston Bruins in game 7 to win the series 4-3.
