About the New York Rangers Hockey Team
The New York Rangers are a National Hockey League team (NHL) that plays their home games at Madison Square Garden (MSG) in New York, NY. They play in the Metropolitan division of the Eastern Conference. Other NHL teams in the same division include the Philadelphia Flyers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Carolina Hurricanes, Columbus Blue Jackets, New York Islanders, New Jersey Devils, and the Washington Capitals.
The Rangers first joined the NHL in 1926 and are part of the "original six" teams that also include the Chicago Blackhawks, Detroit Red Wings, Montreal Canadians, Boston Bruins, and the Toronto Maple Leafs. They are a team that is very rich in history and pride. On November 16th, 1926 New York Rangers played their first game ever vs. the Montreal Maroons. This would be game 1 of a 44 game schedule in the 1926-27 season, and the Rangers would win that game 1-0.
